Southern flooding to worsen as strong monsoon to unleash more rains

The Meteorological Department said a strong monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and a low pressure ridge over the Andaman Sea will unleash more rains in 13 southern provinces Sunday and Monday.

The department said heavy downpours would be experienced in Phetchaburi, Prachup Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
Small fishing boats are advised to remain anchored.
Ten southern provinces are already reeling from severe flooding caused by days of torrential rains.
