Interim charter amendment bill sails through NLA

The National Legislative Assembly Friday passed the amendment of the Interim charter of 2014 with 228 votes in favor and 3 abstentions.

In the new amendment tabled by the Cabinet and the National Council for Peace and Order , the King could choose to name or not name a regent when outside the Kingdom and allows the prime minister to reacquire the draft constitution, which passed the referendum last August, for changes.

The amendment would be forwarded to the prime minister for further seeking of the royal endorsement.
