20% of emergency patients die on way to hospitals

More than 20 per cent of patients needing emergency treatments have succumbed on their way to hospitals because of traffic jams and uncooperative motorists.

National Institute of Emergency Medicine (NIEM) secretary general Anucha Setthasathian spoke up Monday after a video clip went viral showing how a pickup got in the way of an ambulance.
The incident reportedly took place in Chiang Mai on Sunday.
Instead of giving way to the ambulance, the clip showed the pickup driver got angry that the ambulance overtook his vehicle and sped up to catch up and complain.
