‘Theft’ probe result into top official expected to be completed in two days

The investigation into Intellectual Property Department deputy director-general Suphat Saquandeekul for his alleged theft of a painting from a Japanese hotel will be completed within two days as it is not a complicated case, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said Monday.

Apiradi said the investigation into Suphat would involve representatives from all relevant sides –the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC), the Prime Minister’s Office, the Justice Ministry, and the Commerce Ministry.
She said the inquiry would be submitted to Suphat’s superior for action in accordance with civil service rules after Suphat was immediately ordered to be temporarily moved to work at the ministry’s permanent-secretary office.
“The temporary reshuffle is not aimed to protect this official, but aimed to remove him from the administration authority of the Intellectual Property Department. The punishment will depend on the investigation panel’s consideration,” Apiradi said.
