SCB gets rolling on cashless push via PromptPay

SIAM Commercial Bank has launched a service that enables its customers to pay for taxi and delivery services through the bank’s link-up with the state’s PromptPay scheme.

The SCB service is operating with four partners: Grab Taxi, All Thai Taxi, Skootar and Eat Ranger.
Arak Sutivong, the bank’s chief strategy officer, said: “SCB is committed to creating products and services that meet the needs of new-generation consumers’ lifestyles via digital platforms.
“The bank also supports the Thai government’s strategy to develop a national e-payment infrastructure for the digital economy and is campaigning for cashless payments to become popular.”
The bank sees the service as raising awareness of the government’s payment scheme and the convenience for customers of doing away with cash for basic transport services.
