Reconciliation talks set to start

THE FIRST three political parties are set to join the initial round of talks Tuesday with the reconciliation preparation committee overseen by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan.

Defence Ministry permanent secretary Gen Chaichan Changmongkol, who chairs a sub-panel on opinion hearing, will meet representatives from the New Aspiration Party (NAP), the Farmer Network of Thailand Party (FNTP), and the Commoner Party of Thailand (CPT).
The parties are being invited in alphabetical order of party names, the ministry’s spokesperson Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich said.
The three parties are expected to discuss 11 issues devised by Prawit’s committee – from reconciliation, politics, inequality, to reforms – to help draft an ‘agreement of truth’ expected to be ready for parties’ endorsement by April.
