Commerce Ministry consults Amlo on assets seizure in fake rice deals

The Commerce Ministry’s Foreign Trade Department has sought advice from the Anti Money Laundering Office (AMLO) on how to executive an order to seize assets of three former government officials involving the fake government-to-government rice deals.

The Amlo advice will be soon forward to the Legal Execution Department for civil liabilities seizure against former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom, deputy commerce minister Poom Sarapol and other former senior commerce officials.
They are facing massive compensation lawsuits worth a combined Bt20 billion for their role in fake G-2-G rice contracts during the tenure of former premier Yingluck Shinawatra when her government implemented the rice-pledging scheme, which cost the state more than Bt600 billion.
