Taxi driver fined Bt1,000 for calling passenger ‘whore’
A taxi driver was fined Bt1,000 after he was caught on a video clip that went viral, bursting out at a female university student and calling her a whore.
The driver, identified only as Wirat, was summoned by the Land Transport Department for an attitude adjustment for three hours on Tuesday and he was fined Bt1,000.
A Facebook user, Tarn, posted the clip on her wall, recounting that the incident happened on Sunday. She said her group of five students were traveling on the taxi and the girl who sat on the front seat adjusted the air conditioner’s ventilation and she was then strongly scolded by the driver, prompting her to leave the taxi.
The rest of the students later filed a complaint with police at the Nong Khaem police station.
The clip showed the driver saying: “What right do you have to adjust my air conditioner’s ventilation. It’s my car, not yours. Where are you studying? Don’t they teach you the manner. If you aren’t pleased, you may get out … whore.”
