Deputy abbot of Dhammakaya Temple stripped of his monastic title

The deputy abbot of controversial Dhammakaya Temple was stripped of his royally bestowed ecclesiastic title on Tuesday.

The Royal Gazette published the decision today but the stripping came into effect on Tuesday.
Phra Rachapaowanajarn was suspected of involving in providing shelters for fugitive and using the temple's fund in the stockmarket. The monk also failed many times to report himself as ordered by authorities.
Earlier the former abbot of the temple; Phra Dhammachayo, was also stripped of his title. Dhammachayo faced a number of criminal charges, including money laundering and conspiracy to launder money. He is now a fugitive.
