Phra Sanitwong turns himself in at CSD

Phra Sanitwong Wuthiwangso, spokesperson of the controversial Dhammakaya Temple, surrendered at the Crime Suppression Division Thursday morning after an arrest warrant has been issued against him.

The Criminal Court Wednesday approved a warrant for the arrest of the monk for having allegedly incited violence, violated the computer crime act and defamed the Department of Special Investigation.

After interrogating the monk, deputy police chief Srivara Ransibhramanakul revealed that Phra Sanitwong Chareonrattawong denied the charges against him.
Srivala said police would ask the Criminal Court’s approval for detention of Phra Sanitwong pending further investigations.
Investigators would also ask the court not to allow the monk to be released on bail for fear that he would interfere with evidences. The investigators would also point out that the case against Phra Sanitwong affected the national security so he should not be released on bail.
Srivala said the Klong Luang police station would later in the day take Phra Sanitwong to be interrogated on charge of violating the order of the National Council for Peace and Order and he would be arraigned in the Thanya Buri court for this charge.
