Khon Kaen highway police intercept 530kgs of marijuana

They seized the drug which was packed into 530 bars each of one kg. The marijuana was stuffed into 15 bags that have silica gel packets to absorb moisture to preserve the drug’s quality.
Acting on tips-off, Khon Kaen high-way police set up a checkpoint on the in-bound Mittraparp Road in Tambon Sa-ard of Nampong district at midnight. At 2:20 am, they spot a pick-up truck with something covered on its back.
Police waved the truck to stop, but the driver sped up past the checkpoint. The chasing police caught up with it 10 kilometres later after the driver decided to park the vehicle and ran into a roadside forest.
Police found the bags of marijuana covered by a canvas at the back of the truck.
