Pak Bara deep-sea port protesters try to stop public forum

A group of about 300 people protesting the proposed Pak Bara deep-sea port remained inside Ban Pakbang School in Satun’s Langu district on Thursday morning and blocked other people from entering the school in an attempt to prevent a public hearing on the project being held there.

At 9am the forum was yet to commence.
Protesters broke into the school at about 10pm on Wednesday night.
On Thursday morning, protesters gathered at the school gate, as a large contingent of police officers had assembled outside the school.
Security checkpoints have been set up on every road leading to the school.
Many police vehicles and other official vehicles passed through the school on Thursday morning.
Protesters suspected that the project owner may staged the public forum at a nearby school.
