Chamlong Pummalai, a driver for the Teachers Council of Thailand, was apprehended at 1pm in Angthong province.
On March 28, Chamlong allegedly shot dead Wassana Burakhon, 37, on the lawn of the Teachers Council. The case made headlines because the murder occurred inside the compound of the Education Ministry.
Chamlong told police that he killed Wassana out of anger because she had filed a police report accusing him of theft and out of jealousy because she had been going out with another man.
An earlier report stated that Chamlong became angry after Wassana decided to end their romantic relationship when she found out that he was married to another woman.
Police arrested the suspect at the house of a relative of his wife in Angthong.
