Three arrested for lobbing bomb in front of police station in Bangkok

Three men have been arrested for allegedly making and lobbing a bomb in front of Bangkok’s Huai Khwang Police Station, apparently in anger over one of them being arrested for drunk driving during the Songkran holidays.

Police said they arrested Ekkachai Wonghachak, 20, Thossapol Singla, 27 and Natthapong Wongsawang, 21, and brought them to Huai Khwang Police Station at 1.30am on Wednesday.
Ekkachai was arrested at his house in Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district and the two others at their room in Ratchada City Condominium in Huai Khwang district.
Police said images of the three were captured on CCTV, riding on the same motorcycle on Sunday and hurling a bomb on the roadside in front of the police station. No one was injured.
Police claimed Ekkachai had admitted they did it for fun and to retaliate against the police for arresting Natthapong for drunk driving on April 14. They said Ekkachai had also admitted that he had himself made the bomb.
