Panel to probe alleged involvement of provincial governor in prostitution ring

Permanent Secretary at the Interior Ministry Krissada Boonrat has set up a fact-finding committee to probe the allegation that Mae Hong Song Governor Suebsak Iamwichan was among high-ranked officials who were clients of the Mae Hong Son forced prostitution ring.

The panel led by Deputy Permanent Secretary Prayoon Rattanaseni would complete the probe within 30 days, he said.

The case came to light after a 43-year-old former police informant sought justice for her teenage daughter, who was allegedly lured into taking drugs, blackmailed and then coerced by a Senior Sgt-Major at the Nam Piang Din Police Station into a prostitution ring which supplies girls under 18 to many officials and policemen.
