300 undocumented migrant workers rounded up in Pattaya

Authorities rounded up 300 Myanmar and Cambodian workers who did not have proper immigration documents at the construction site of a large shopping mall in North Pattaya on Wednesday morning.

Bang Lamung district chief Narit Niramaiwong led soldiers, immigration police and Pattaya police to check the construction site of Terminal 21 Pattaya.
Narit said the Interior Ministry’s complaints centre in his district had received complaints that many workers at the site were working there illegally.
The operation determined that about 300 workers from Myanmar and Cambodia did not have either work permits or temporary pink ID cards issued by the government to allow migrants to work in Thailand.
