Elderly woman drowns in Chachoengsao canal
An 87-year-old woman said to be suffering from dementia was found drowned in a canal near her Chachoengsao home seven hours after disappearing late Wednesday afternoon.
Relatives said Lamiad Aunglor wandered from her house in the village of Moo 6 in Bang Pakong district’s Tambon Bang Klua at about 5pm.
They said Lamiad suffered from memory loss and was watched carefully, but vanished in a brief moment when her caretaker was distracted.
Relatives and neighbours searched the area before summoning scuba divers from a rescue foundation to check Old Samarong Canal opposite her house. Her body was found at 11pm under a canal pier.
