Man sowing rice severely hurt in lightning strike

A Pathum Thani farmer was severely injured when struck by lightning Tuesday morning.
Police said Somchai Phuengwan, 41, suffered severe burns in the 9.30am incident and was afterward bleeding from the ears.
He was rushed to Lad Lum Kaew district hospital for preliminary treatment before being transferred to Pathum Thani provincial hospital due to the seriousness of his condition.
Somchai’s friend Rangsan Makhawong, 43, told police they’d been sowing rice in the field in Lad Lum Kaew’s Tambon Namai when the lightning struck.
