Electricity official electrocuted while trying to cut power on high-voltage cable

A Metropolitan Electricity Authority worker in Prachinburi was electrocuted on Tuesday while he was trying to cut the power supply to a high-voltage cable for maintenance.

Police said the accident happened at 10.30am at a power pole on Suwnthawong Road in Tambon Maikhed’s Ban Ao Phayom, Muang district.
The worker was identified as Khamron Premsuk, 46.
His co-worker said he climbed the power pole to cut the power supply but part of his safety belt hit the cable and a short circuit killed him.
Local residents said they heard the two sounds of explosions and rushed out to see Khamron briefly waving for help.
In the absence of a crane, his co-worker was powerless to help, police added.
