No use in protesting over change in EC – they wanted us out, Supachai says

THERE was no use protesting against the government’s move to change the set-up of the Election Commission, EC chairman Supachai Somcharoen said on Saturday.

He made the comment after the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) endorsed the change with a majority vote in Parliament.
The EC, he said, would adhere to the law, and would continue working until the new commissioners start at the agency.
“I’m not surprised at all because I have made up my mind to some extent. They have a reason – they want to have new people to work on this. As they don’t want us to do this job. So, I will go home, that’s it,” Supachai said, adding that he would have time to rest after he finishes at the commission.
