Bangjongjitt Angsusingh, director-general of the department, said on Monday that about 2,000 OTOP items had high prospects of becoming premium OTOP products, the value of which would increase in the world market.
To diversify OTOP products from the general, the agency and 30 organisations have also collaborated in holding the “Best OTOP 77 Experience” event in order to select the best premium OTOP products from the country’s 77 provinces, with a view to modern traders and leading malls in the Kingdom selling such items to local consumers and tourists.
The activity is being held through Thursday this week at the Commerce Ministry in Nonthaburi.
Some 98,436 registered OTOP products are currently available around the country, with souvenirs accounting for 30.9 per cent, followed by food (30.5 per cent), fabrics and clothing (22 per cent), herbs and non-food products (12.46 per cent), and beverages (4.12 per cent).
