Social contract has been drawn up by panel led by Army chief

The so-called ‘social contract’ made on political views and recommendations – shared by concerned parties in a series of the government-initiated talks – has been completed, Colonel Sirichan Nga-thong, the deputy Army spokesperson, has said.
Army Chief Chalermchai Sitthisart, who chairs the panel working on formulating the contract, was quoted as saying his panel had finished and was ready to present it to the reconciliation preparation committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, on Monday.
The document, if endorsed by the committee, would be revealed and become the subject of public hearings in key forums in the four regions before going to the supreme body of reform, reconciliation, and national strategy, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
It is expected to be endorsed by concerned parties as a reconciliatory gesture, before the next election.
