Security stepped up in Songkhla during Ramadan’s last week

The military, police and the Interior Ministry on Tuesday stepped up security in six districts of Songkhla deemed risky to insurgency attacks during the last week of the Muslim’s holy month of Ramadan.

Joint forces of the three agencies were beefed up in Muang, Hat Yai, Sadao, Chana, Thepha, Na Thawee, and Sabayoi districts.
The authorities said they expected the insurgents may step up attacks during the last week of Ramandan, which is expected to end on Sunday at the first rise of the moon.
Security was stepped up a day after insurgents launched a bomb attack in Pattani’s Thung Yang Daeng district, killing six troops on Monday.
