Electrical, electronics exports up 7% in Q1, to get further boost from dual Bangkok fairs

Thai electrical and electronics exports grew by 7 per cent in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, and are expected to continue to expand during the remainder of the year, a Federation of Thai Industries club said on Tuesday.

Kamjorn Khunvapanichkul, vice chairman of the Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications and Allied Industries Club, said that to boost export growth further in the sector, the country is holding the “Bangkok RHVAC” and “Bangkok E&E” shows – the largest dual fairs of their kind in Asean – later this year to help underline the Kingdom’s leading position.
The former event, held under the theme “Eco Innovation for a Sustainable Future”, will highlight eco-friendly innovation, while the latter, held under the “Smart Innovation for an Ultimate Lifestyle” concept, will showcase the latest technology trends that help enhance convenience for consumers.
The Internal Trade Promotion Department of the Commerce Ministry aims to bring together some 1,000 exhibition booths and attract over 10,000 visitors from both local and major international markets, such as Asean, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
The dual fairs, which are forecast to generate more than Bt3 billion, will take place at BITEC, Bang Na, from September 7-10.
