Normal security for Yingluck’s court address

Authorities will not designate the area in front of the Supreme Court as a controlled space ahead of the closing statement by ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra in her case involving a rice-pledging scheme, Army Chief General Chalermchai Sitthisart said on Monday.

Yingluck, who has been charged with negligence for failing to prevent corruption and irregularities in the scheme, will make her own closing statement on Tuesday.
It is expected that a huge number of people will turn out to show support for her.
The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders has set August 25 as the date for the verdict in Yingluck’s case.
Chalermchai said authorities would use normal laws to keep order, with police in charge of both traffic and security in front of the court. The court did not ask for special security, he said.
