Higher education executive appointment rules changed
Higher educational institutes may now appoint a person who is neither a civil servant nor a current employee to the position of president, vice president, dean, deputy dean or equivalent.
This has been made possible through an order issued by National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) chief General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who also serves as the prime minister.
The order, which was published in the Royal Gazette on Tuesday, is aimed at preventing a management vacuum at higher educational institutes.
In the past, several universities have had management problems because of quarrels over the appointment of executives. These quarrels have adversely affected their educational services.
