Probe into police ‘mistress’ excuse

Probe into police ‘mistress’ excuse

The superintendent of the Soeng Sang Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima has launched a disciplinary probe against two officers whose names appeared on a joke letter that has gone viral on social media, police deputy spokesman Pol Colonel Krisana Pattanacharoen said on Tuesday.

The letter said an officer was seeking to be excused from attending a morning flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday so he could give a ride to his mistress.
Although it was later publicly explained that the letter, written by Pol Senior Sgt-Major Amnuay Waifa and approved by Pol Major Pornpirom Lomkratok, was meant as a joke among friends on the force, their superintendent assigned a fact-finding panel to investigate if there had been a breach of discipline. Punishment could be administered accordingly.
Krisana warned officers nationwide that they had to be careful as reckless actions could lead to criticism, given that police were supposed to act according to strict discipline.
