Group takes insurance fraud claims to media

Some 20 Rayong residents told the media on Sunday that an insurance company representative allegedly stole the money that they and 70 other customers had paid as instalments on a Bt145 million insurance policy.
The group said they had complained to police, but had seen no progress in their case. They lamented that the insurance company had filed a counter complaint on June 28, accusing 56 of the complainants of conspiring with the representative in question to defraud the firm.
They said they would file a complaint with the Department of Special Investigation soon, because the opportunity to do so would expire within a year.
Meanwhile, Muang Rayong precinct police investigator Pol Lt Colonel Yutthachai Phorung confirmed that the case was being handled by a provincial-level committee due to the large number of alleged victims. The case had been processed accordingly, and the accused person was already in detention.
