The couple insisted that their daughter had no reason to commit suicide, as claimed by investigating police, according to their accompanying lawyer, Ronnarong Kaewphetch from the Network Seeking Justice in Society.
Ronnarong told Srivara that there were suspicions in this case involving four suspects, one of whom was the son of an “influential figure” – a police officer.
The parents claimed the body had bruises and a pressure mark on the neck, that the woman was found with her underwear worn inside out, and that there were signs of sexual assault.
The young woman had been staying at the rented house with the unnamed boyfriend, the son of a police senior sergeant major at the local precinct.
On the evening of August 13, the boyfriend invited three friends to have a meal with them. After this, the woman reportedly went upstairs. Her body was found the next morning in a seated position, but with her neck hanging from the room’s doorknob.
Police submitted two used condoms found at the scene for DNA tests, but told the parents that it was likely that this was a case of suicide.
Srivara said the police investigation had suffered a communication problem and had been delayed because they were waiting for forensic results. He said he would ask for a change of the police investigator in the case.
