Thai man arrested for smuggling 10 Cambodians into country

A Thai man was arrested in Sa Kaew province early Tuesday morning after rangers and police found 10 undocumented Cambodian migrants in his pickup truck.

Rangers and immigration police were patrolling a border road and spotted the pickup truck with a Bangkok licence plate, travelling from the border between Aranyaprathet and Khoksung districts at about 4am, and stopped it.
The driver was identified as Prateep Somprasong, 37.
Rangers and police found six men and four women in the pickup. None of them had travel documents.
Prateep said he was hired by a Cambodian for Bt1,500 to drive the Cambodians to a construction site in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district.
The Cambodians said they paid Bt2,500 each to the Cambodian man, who promised them a job in Bangkok.
