Mourning period for King Rama IX extended
The late monarch, whose reign spanned seven decades, passed away at the age of 89 on October 13 last year.
The government has officially announced the one-year mourning, which will now be extended by 15 days.
“National flags at government agencies and Thai embassies will fly at half mast during the extension period too,” Government Spokesman Lt General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said yesterday.
The Royal Cremation Ceremonies for the late King will run from October 25 to 29, with the actual cremation being held on October 26.
