Ayutthaya makes merit in final honour to late King

Ayutthaya Governor Sujin Chaiyachumsak led rituals on Friday morning to make merit for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The governor distributed alms to 89 monks outside a replica of the royal crematorium erected in the city’s historical park.
He and other officials then gathered along the Chao Phraya River beside Wat Phanongchoneng to float the ashes of funeral flowers that had been burned in honour of the late King.
More than 70,000 Ayutthaya citizens had placed flowers carved in sandalwood funeral at the crematorium replica on Thursday.
