High waves keep tourists out of southern waters

With monsoon winds triggering high waves, red flags were raised on major beaches in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Wednesday as warnings to tourists not to swim.

Kittikorn Thepyu-amnuay, chief of the province’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, said he had asked relevant agencies to erect the red flags on Gulf coast beaches from Hua Hin to Bang Saphan.
Kittikorn said officials would be deployed to try and ensure safety at the beaches.
He also reported that seawater had flooded the coastal road in Muang district.
