Two Samui manicurists reprimanded for overcharging Swedish tourist

Two Thai women who overcharged a Swedish man for a manicure have been reprimanded by police.

The two manicurists charged the 55-year-old man Bt3,500 at Ban Lamai Beach over the weekend, but when the issue was widely shared on Facebook, they returned Bt2,000 to the tourist.
The two women, who hid their faces with masks, were paraded at a press conference at Bor Phut Police Station on Tuesday.
The women performed a wai in front of media and apologised for having tarnished the image of the popular tourist-destination island.
They claimed that the money had been collected because of a miscommunication and returned Bt2,000 to the tourist.
Tourist Police Bureau deputy commissioner Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal told the press conference that the women would not face charges since the case involved a misunderstanding.
He said they had been reprimanded and warned not to overcharge customers again.
