Fire destroys hybrid car in Phayao

Police were alerted to the fire in Moo 13 village in Tambon Tha Wangthong at 5.30am.
Rescuers from a local foundation tried in vain to put out the blaze that swept through the Toyota Prius. By the time a firefighter arrived, the car had already been destroyed.
Sirilak Takahashi, 50, the car owner, said she has last used the car when she returned from Japan on January 26 on a business trip.
The car was parked in front of her house when it caught fire. She said she heard an alarm and went down to see smoke coming out from under the bonnet. The fire quickly spread to the inside the car, so she called for help from neighbours and called police and the fire station.
