Blind single mum sheds tears of joy after receiving public donations
Public support has been pouring in for a blind mother who is raising her one-year-old boy alone after her plight was shared on Facebook.
Orapin Kraironnaphum (president of the Buri Ram Women’s Council), Phisit Phabutr (mayor of the Tambon Krasang Administrative Organisation) and Prapas Parinra (village head at Ban Klantha village) visited Sunisa Moongruayklang on Monday to give her some cash and essential items donated by members of the public.
Sunisa, 26, lives alone in a rusty shack with galvanized iron walls and roof with her 15-month-old son.
She has been struggling to get by on a Bt1,100 monthly allowance – Bt800 for the disabled and Bt300 for the poor.
Her plight came to the public attention after anxious neighbours posted about it on Facebook.
Sunisa shed her tears of joy as she accepted the donations.
She said she had became blind seven years ago after working in a local iron-melting factory and was left to cope alone with her toddler after her husband left her to become a monk.
Orapin said she had started collecting donations as soon as she heard about her plight and ongoing support would be greatly appreciated.
