Some 2,000 residents in nine villages of Mae Hong Son's Sop Moei district were cut off from outside world on Friday morning as 50cm-deep floodwater covered a large section of Ban Mae Umloh-Ban Sop Khong road making it impassable for vehicles.

Several sections of the road were also hit by landslides, said provincial disaster prevention office head Reungrit Pholdee.
A 30-metre section of highway in Ban Mae Sam Laeb (Moo 1) in Tambon Mae Sam Laeb of Sop Moei was also hit by a landslide at 5am, making it impassable for vehicles.
Local officials have contacted the Highway Department to bring heavy machines and workers to clear the landslide.
