Chinese delegation promotes bilateral trade

Chinese investors are seeking opportunities in the fields of smart electronics, eco-agriculture, digital industry, tourism services, culture and education in Thailand, according to Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong.

Wang co-host the 2018 China-Thailand Business Forum with Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusipitak. 
The Chinese embassy said around 600 representatives from the government, commercial, industrial and media sectors attended. 
The embassy statement said the forum showed the “prospect of pragmatic co-operation between the two countries and conveys the common aspirations of both sides for the continuous development of China-Thailand friendly relations”. 
Wang told the event: "We are setting a model of co-operation with mutual benefits and have injected a strong impetus to the development and co-operation for our two countries and regional economies. 
"In 2017, bilateral trade volume exceeded US$80 billion. Under the framework of the China-Asean FTA [free-trade agreement], China has provided zero-tariff treatment to over 90 per cent of Thai products exported to China, promoting rice and rubber trade between our two countries. 
“The China-Thailand Railway project officially started. The two sides are expecting to launched satellites co-designed by both sides in the near future."
He targeted bilateral trade of $140 billion by 2021. “We will actively explore new co-operation opportunities in the fields of smart electronics, eco-agriculture, digital industry, tourism services, culture and education,” he said.
