US television giant CBS announced Sunday that CEO Leslie Moonves, one of the most powerful men implicated in the #MeToo era, was stepping down immediately, following a slew of sexual misconduct allegations.

Moonves and CBS will donate $20 million to supporting the #MeToo movement and equality for women in the workplace, the company said. His interim replacement will be chief operating officer Joseph Ianniello.
