Blackout and traffic chaos as truck crashes into power poles in Bangkok

A 18-wheel truck crashed into four power poles on Soi Phaholyothin 30 on Friday, causing a blackout in the area and paralysing traffic.

The 11.20am accident blocked traffic on Soi Phaholyothin 30 in Bangkok's Bang Khen district for hours.
Officials from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority were working to restore electricity in the area.
Police said traffic was expected to return to normal about 5.30pm and the electricity would be switched on about 6pm.
The truck, belonging to TransNext Services, was driven by Wisarut Jamparat, 33, who is facing a charge of reckless driving causing damage to public property.
