Traffic police braced for festive dangers
Phuket police are gearing up for the annual “seven days of danger" road safety period from December 27 to January 2.

Phuket’s Vice Governor Supot Rodrueang na Nongkhai said: “We are aiming for people to be happy over the festive season with safety during their travels. Road safety measures are being planned to be ready for the busy festive season, particularly between Christmas and new year.
“Officers have prepared to cover both road and marine safety.

Checkpoints on major roads will be set up to ensure public safety.
“The seven days safety campaign targets a reduction in accidents and loss of life.”
A similar campaign runs over the Songkran holiday, during another a peak in road incidents. Christmas sees more accidents involving foreigners and Songkran largely affects the Thai population.
