Three schoolgirls killed in Nakhon Pathom motorcycle crash

Three 13-year-old girls were killed on Sunday when they lost control of the motorcycle they were riding on a curve and smashed into a 10-wheel truck in the opposite lane.

The crash took place at 1pm near Wat Nong Ngu Luam in Tambon Nong Ngu Luam in Nakhon Pathom’s Muang district.
The three girls were identified as Thiwaporn Chanpong, 13, Pathitta Inprai, 13, and Sujitra Butrpha, 13. All three were Grade 7 students at Rachinee Burana School in Nakhon Pathom's Muang district.
Their two friends, boys attending the same school, who were on another motorcycle, waited for police at the scene.
The three girls were riding the same motorcycle, which slid under the truck after the impact.
The truck driver, Sayan Boonthiam, 48, told police that he was driving from Ratchaburi’s Bang Pong district to deliver soil to a client in Nakhon Pathom’s Muang district when the accident occurred.
Sayan said he saw the girls overtake their friends before losing control and hitting hit his truck head-on. When he stopped, he discovered all three had been killed outright.
The two boys told police they were returning from a friend’s house Tambon Prong Madua where they had been working on a school project. They said the bike accelerated to overtake them on the curve, lost control and strayed into the oncoming lane.
