The bureau reported that the quake took place at around 1am and that the epicentre was 3 kilometres below ground.
This is the 104th tremor in the district since February 20, when Wang Nua was rocked with a 4.9-magnitude quake, which damaged more than 200 houses.
There were no reports of people feeling the tremor, the bureau said.
The district is located on the Phayao fault.
