Cabinet approves Bt1.4 billion for reservoir park in Phitsanulok

The Cabinet has approved a budget of Bt1.4 billion to expand a reservoir in Phitsanulok province and develop its surroundings as a public park, a senior official said on Wednesday.

Monchai Wiwatthanat, chief of the Phitsanulok Administrative Organisation, said the Cabinet had approved the budget, with seven fiscal years of commitment starting in 2020 fiscal year, for the project as proposed by the National Water Resources Office.
The budget will be used to expand the area of the reservoir from 858 rai (137 hectares) to 3,714 rai (594 hectares), after which it will be able to retain 28.85 million cubic metres of water.
Monchai said after the project is completed, it would help prevent flooding to 10,575 rai of farmland in Phitsanulok’s Wang Thong district.
The reservoir will also be developed into a large public park for people to exercise and recreate, he added.
