Fire engulfs Singapore-owned furniture factory in Lat Phrao
Two people were injured in a massive fire that tore through a furniture factory owned by Singapore’s iwa Design in Bangkok’s Lat Phrao district on Tuesday, police said.
The injured included one member of staff and a passerby who tripped and fell while running to see the fire.
The Chokchai Police Station was alerted of the fire at about 11am, and firefighters arrived to find the factory engulfed in flames. It took them about an hour to bring the fire under control.
The company has estimated that the fire caused damages worth Bt20 million within the factory complex, and damages worth Bt100,000 to houses nearby.
Iwa Design Thailand Co Ltd has also said that the management team, including managing director and factory manager, were present at the time of the fire and that they are cooperating with the police and Forensics Department to determine the cause of blaze.
