Residents of the East and South were warned of isolated torrential rains on Sunday (August 11) due to an intense southwest monsoon across the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, the monsoon across the upper North and a low-pressure cell over the upper Northeast.
The Thai Meteorological Department also issued a caution over possible flash flooding.
Provinces most vulnerable are Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, Satun, Chanthaburi and Trat.
It said strong winds could lift waves to two to four metres in the Andaman, 2-3 metres in the upper Gulf and above four metres in thundershower areas.
It warned large seagoing vessels to proceed with caution and small boats to stay ashore.
