The ship has been docked at Yokohama Pier and carries 3,700 passengers who face a two-week quarantine.
Authorities were alerted to invoke the quarantine after an 80-year-old Hong Kong passenger was diagnosed with the 2019-nCoV pneumonia after he had boarded the ship on January 20 and got off at Hong Kong on January 25.
Passengers reportedly were ordered to stay in the rooms at all times. They are not allowed even on the hallways.
So far, Japan has reported 86 cases, the highest number outside China. As of Friday (February 7), the total number of cases worldwide exceeded 31,400 with 638 deaths.
