Activist helps monk facing lese majeste charges flee to Europe

Monk Phra Panya Seesun, who faces lese majeste charges for allegedly criticising the establishment, has arrived at a European country to seek asylum.

Political activist Nuttaa Mahattana said she collected just over Bt200,000 in donations between November 21 and 30 to help the monk flee the country.

On her Facebook page, she provided details on how the money was spent and said she will provide regular updates.

She also thanked donors but said the monk’s whereabouts could not be revealed until everything is settled.

Nutta had helped launch a donation rally for the monk who wanted to build a temple outside Thailand to provide shelter to Thais who need to flee.
