More than 23,000 migrant workers arrested this year for illegal entry

A total of 23,381 migrant workers were arrested for illegally crossing into the country during January to November, the Royal Thai Police announced.

 

In addition, 344 people were arrested for bringing the workers into Thailand, while 720 people were charged with helping or hiding the workers.

 

In December, 547 have been arrested so far, along with 21 people who had brought them in and 117 who hid them from the police.

 

Deputy National Police chief Pol General Damrongsak Kittiprapas said that his organisation was focused on arresting the people involved in bringing the migrants into Thailand illegally, as well as screening the migrants for Covid-19 following the procedure suggested by the Ministry of Public Health.
