The onset of haze in Brunei since June 21 is due to prevailing southwesterly winds bringing in severe smoke from predominant hotspots scattered mostly around parts of Central and West Borneo, the statement read.
Meanwhile, surveillance carried out by JASTRE over the past few days shows that open burning activities in Brunei are still rampant.
